With a soft gelatinous texture, almost silk like…subtly spiced up with rose water and cardamom, is how that Rose pannacotta at Souk by Café Arabia tastes like. Garnished with pistachio crumble this dessert is what you call looks gorgeous and tastes divine.
In fact I would just take a ride across town just to taste it again…Head to Souk and order this..you can thank me later
But before you reach the dessert section here there are a few more dishes up their repertoire that are absolutely kick ass…and will give you that Arabian feeling in Pune…
You have to check out their section of the Arabia Platters…Their Hummus Platter with a quad of Beetroot, Pesto, Jalapeno harissa and the standard chickpea hummus served with Pita bread is absolutely a color therapy to the eyes while when you taste it is the perfect blend of mashed chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, garlic and lemon…My favorite amongst the three was the pesto hummus…I would call it perfectly balanced
The Falafel Bullets are deep fried chick pea fritters that have a lovely golden color is another #MustTry here along with the Souk’s garlic toum
For the health conscious Souk has Salad platters. The Fattoush here made with vegetables like mixed greens, onion rings, red cabbage cherry tomatoes and crispy toasted flatbread, which soaks up the dressing beautifully. Flavoured with sumac and a herbed dressing..Pro Tip: The Portions are good for two here…
Slow-cooked herbed chicken meets nutty Za‘atar spice, chunky cucumber red cabbage, the tart tomatoes, crisp peppers and tahini dressing in the Za’atar Chicken Salad at Souk. These lively flavors are balanced by cool, freshly chopped romaine.
For the protein lovers, Souk has a section known as the Kebab Plates all served with sumac onions and a mint garlic sauce…The Sumac Chicken with juicy chicken rubbed with the floral herb, sumac takes you back to Turkey here and the harissa chicken skewers are a sharp contrast to the mildly spiced sumac chicken with its robust heat from the harissa
I don’t think I have ever had such beautiful beetroot kebabs, mildly spiced and absolutely melt in the mouth.
From the Turkish Pide, I liked their Spiced minced lamb out of the 4 Cheese Malt and the Pesto Mushroom… The boat shaped flatbread with the curried lamb and cheese and that topping of fried egg is simply wow…
In the sweet endings, I have already talked about the gorgeous Rose Panacotta but if you are a Baklava fan you have to try the Souk’s rendition of the baklava…Flaky filo pastry, with a warm center filled with nuts topped with icecream and a caramel drizzle..Well that is how you go ahead and elevate a classic
The skillet chocolate chip lava cookie is a crowd pleaser…Just get the spoons and dig in..deliciously decadent and really nothing can beat ooey gooey chocolate melting from the center of warm cookies and to cool you down its topped with icecream…
Overall an experience that I am going to remember for a long long time….
