When you get invited to a dinner at one of India’s famous fine dining places, you don’t say no. Punjab Grill – Gourmet Fine Dining owned by Lite Bite Foods is currently serving a Chankna Menu that has put the most familiar bar snacks right back on the map, North Indian style! The menu is totally designed to encourage conversations and the repertoire reinterprets some cult favorites. The thought behind each ‘Chakhna’, its presentation and execution takes the whole experience to the next level. So, here is the lowdown on the dishes that paved way for a prefect evening
The newly introduced chakna items start from as low as Rs. 100 per dish and offer good variety across peanuts, corn and egg preparations. The tandoor chakna dishes are absolutely drool worthy
Mixed Seeds Chana Jor Garam – A lip smacking combination of the chana jor garam and masala peanuts. Great balance of flavors, and totally chatpata.
Kaffir Lime Scented Classic Masala Peanuts – A mix of tomato, green bell pepper and onion pieces with kaffir lime leaves. Maaza aa gaya kha ke
Chhalli Masalewali Corn off the Cob – This one worked best for me. Boiled sweet corn with chatpata masala and nimbu. This one will go great with any beverage
Masala Ande with Corn Meal Toast –The scrambled eggs in a small saucepan with the two triangles of corn meal toast stuck to the top like bunny’s ears. A comic take but pretty okay flavors.
Tandoori Pineapple with Shashlik –A pairing of sweet pineapple with piquant capsicum cooked on grill, spiced with chaat masala and red chilli and grilled to get a smokiness. A great way to start with the grillicious menu.
Tandoori Kukkad Wings – And if chicken wings is what you’re craving, sample the Tandoori Kukkad Wings that have a swooning smokey flavour Absolutely delicious, #HighlyRecommended
Paneer ke Sooley – I really enjoyed the Paneer Ke Sooley, as the paneer was extremely soft and very well marinated and what large chunks of paneer, it was more than enough for atleast 4 people #HighlyRecommended
Chukandar ke Kebab – Beetroot a colorful veggie which gives awesome color to this preparartion. Delicate melt in the mouth kebabs fashioned with a cottage cheese centre, perfectly spiced with herbs, coated with bread crumbs and pan fried #Recommended
Chicken 3 Ways – The chicken preparation here consisted of Murgh Tikka (marinated with cheddar cheese and shahi jeera infused cream and thoroughly glazed in the tandoor), Murgh Malai Tikka (chicken marinated in yogurt, cashewnut paste and cheese chargrilled to perfection), Murgh Hariyali Tikka that was marinated with curd and mint. Perfectly melt in the mouth chicken in all three variants
Kotkapure da Atta Chicken – Then there is this dish that includes a little theatre but does not taste as good . I guess it was too bland for me
Cocktails
I opted for the Nimboo ka Achaar Caprioska made with vodka and brown sugar. The tanginess of the nimbu ka achar accentuated with black salt, brown sugar and vodka is quite stellar.
Mains
The mains comprised of Paneer Lababdar, Murgh Makhni, Dal Punjab Grill and Chicken Dum Biryani along with a choice of breads. The gravies here flirt with your tastebuds and the Dal is a beauty to behold, one can tell that its simmered for a long long time to get that taste. I also relished the murgh makhni and sahi mein…dilli ki yaad aa gayi (made me remember my time in Delhi)
Dessert
Desi Desserts mean Phirni for me. It is nicely textured, sweet enough with the right amount of saffron lending its distinctness. Topped with assorted nuts
And then there was soft centered gulab jamun stuffed with pistachio. Absolutely delectable!
Service: Attentive and well-informed service will make your meal truly memorable. Do call ahead to make reservations since they can be quite full during dinner service, especially on weekends. You can also request for takeaways since their portions are very generous.
PS: Make note, the presentation and plating all throughout is extremely impressive and will have you pulling out your phones for some serial Instagram posts. This new menu definitely adds more colors to the present one.
