Powered with some amazing additions to its already diverse menu, 212 All Day Café and Bar has become all the more feisty. Good food, a hearty portion size coupled with a casual dining experience are the key mantras of this place. Check out the new additions in the menu here
First up to our table were Mrs. Beaton’s Eggs – masala scrambled eggs on a bun pao, with potato lachchas and a tomato hollandaise. A lovely dish, Perfect for that breakfast
Next up was the Curried Porridge that came across as the home made dal khichdi all glammed up. A garnish of edible flowers and and peanuts worked wonders for this dish. Healthy start to a day kind of dish
The Eggplant Bruschetta was a stunner here. Caramelized onions, a flavorful egg-plant mash paired with a fig relish and brie (a French cheese) on a crisp bruschetta. All the taste buds are tantalized – Sweet and Savory
The crowd pleasing American Fried Chicken with lemon scamorza cheese dressing did not disappoint either.
Café 212’s version of the Chettinad Prawns with a crisp tempura like coating with a hint of the chettinad masala and is a surprise. #HighlyRecommended
The Grilled Black Pepper Tenderloin had the perfect flavors in its sauce because of the coconut cream and curry powder but the meat was a tad overcooked
You have to, certainly HAVE TO try the Poutines at Café 212. Both the Cheese Overload, with caramelized onions, mushrooms and green peppers and the Shepherd’s Bowl, with minced lamb, corn, peas and sour cream were brilliant yet sinful. 212 serves 6 varants of this poutine..My vote certainly goes to the Shepherd’s Bowl though
The Munchies, as I call them, are perfect conversation starters here. All you need is a big group and something like The Trio of Chips and Salsa that 3 variants of chips (classic, spinach, beetroot) with dips like sour cream, guacamole, cilantro salsa, chipotle, tomato salsa and habanero salsa.
And something like The 3 Hummus Pita comprising of beetroot, edamame and burnt garlic hummus
The Buratta & Edamame Salad with roasted tomatoes, balsamic drizzle, pink peppercorn and Himalayan salt was one of my definite favorites that evening
From the grills, I tried the Green Pea, Baby Potato & Celery Cakes and Grilled Tiger Prawns in tangerine butter sauce. The cakes were wrapped in grape leaves, A dish that looked a little out of place and were tasty however the prawns were perfect for me and the tangerine sauce needed a little bit of shine to pair with the glorious prawns.
The Chettinad Cottage Cheese and Cajun Spiced Chicken pizzas were classic examples of desi pizzas. There is definitely a market for that.
From the Burgers and Panini, the Monster Chicken Burger with chicken kheema patty, fried egg and crispy onion rings and Meditarreanean Panini with with grilled zucchini, yellow squash, black olives and hummus were my top picks
The Mains comprised of the The Pumpkin, Parmesan & Ricotta Tortellini , The Guajillo Lamb Shanks was Love – Falling off the bone meat paired with quinoa, root vegetables and mint relish #HighlyRecommended
A crisp and feather light choux pastry topped with Mascarpone, Kahlua and Coffee Dust. Finished with chocolate shavings edible flowers and figs the Tiramisu Éclair is the perfect way to end the meal.
