The craft beer scene in India is sure emerging and we have evolved from the times were the only choices in beer were strong and mild and now beer isn’t just beer its anywhere between blond, stout, cider, ale or porter…And I am in love with not just the beers but the craft as well. And thanks to that it is a very rare occasion that I reach out to the bottles unless well unless there is big gathering at home primarily due to the unavailability of craft beers in the bottle…My happiness knew no bounds when I first saw BIRA in cans at my local liquor shop and I more than happy to state that White Owl Brewery is soon launching its beer in bottles as well. I was so used to them when I was in Mumbai, celebrated when they launched in Pune and now the introduction of bottles is another pat on the back for the White Owl team.
The bottles are to launch soon with ‘Diablo,’ a light Irish Red Ale with hints of caramel and roast, and ‘Spark,’ a citrusy Belgian Wit in Mumbai & Pune that are appropriate for every space and occasion
White Owl Brewery’s collection – in addition to Spark & Diablo – includes: Halcyon, a German Hefeweizen with hints of banana and clove; Shadow, a dark English Porter with chocolate notes; Torpedo, a punchy American Pale Ale with citrus notes; Paulina, a refreshing German Kolsch; Ace, a bubbly French Apple Cider and Outlander, a Munich lager with malty notes
So when White Owl recently held a beer tasting event for some of their popular craft beers, Bellydriven was more than happy to be a part of it.. #BeerLove at Prem’s Koregaon Park
The Ace is a bubbly French Apple Cider with a champagne like feel to it, perfectly bubbly sans the aftertaste of regular beer
The Spark is an easy, refreshing drink you would crave on a hot day and if you take a sip of the pale-yellow pour, and a lemony orangey zest fills our palate
Diablo, on the other hand, throws notes of caramel, coffee and chocolate, and finishes off with a bitter aftertaste. A fan of stouts and porters, this dark beer wins our vote.
Prem’s Koregaon Park being the venue for the tasting, ensured an array of beer accompaniments and was a perfect host. The array of starters ranged from bar nibbles to the quintessential paneer and chicken tikkas along with some chinindian fare too
