As you venture into The House of Medici, gracefully carpeted wooden floors, luxuriant leather furnishings, artistic Italian sculptures and royal chandeliers greet to give you a feeling of pure affluence. And by the time you move forward a 104 foot long horse shoe shaped bar with a 34ft height will tower over you, everything here exudes such opulence that you take a step back and let the interiors sink in. Check out my experience here

The M is the new K and rightly so Medici replaces KueBar and that too with added panache. Derived from the lavishness of the Florence-based dynasty that was one of Europe’s most powerful and wealthy families, The House of Medici puts together an experience that exudes wealth, passion, power with added flamboyance. This newly launched lounge is an uber chic place to relax over a drink.

The Bar menu draws its inspiration from Italy and the mixologists here have done their best to play around with novel flavors such as the Domenico Spritzer that is star anise infused vodka, tonic and bitters or go along and choose an special infusion to try the chamomile, thyme and vodka sure looks promising. And if you want to stick to the regulars the menu has a far-reaching selection of premium single malts and whiskies, vodkas, beers and wines. I tried the Strozzi and the mixologist’s rendition of the Coffee Martini and I sure came back one happy gal.

Strozzi - A thoroughly refreshing cocktail made of vodka, cucumber, mint and sour mix. The looks are unassuming but this one sure is potent

The food here features a perfect blend of modern day international cuisine along with the signature dishes.

The concoction of the Imli Karela, that has bittergourd roundels that are crisp and batterfried and tossed with an Imli/ tamarind sauce is something that you want to take innumerous helpings of. And you will get addicted to the sweet potato chips here…

Another cracker of an Italian dish is the Ciabatta Involtini. Involtini is an Italian word for various small bites of food consisting of some sort of outer layer wrapped around a filling. The one here has pepper fricassee stuffed into house made ciabatta bread and served with a blue goat cheese dip as accompaniment. The subtle flavors of the involtini go perfectly along with the sharpness of the dip.

The preparation that #BellydrivenRecommends here is the Potato Wrapped Tilapia.  The fish was coated in spaghetti of potatoes and then deep fried to perfection and served along with a caper tartare. An intriguing rendition of the humble fish and chips I must say but by far the most impressive thing on the menu. And thank god they stuck to a firm fleshed fish like tilapia.

With the Murgh Pasandey, you unfold  mysteries of an awesome dish that will have you licking your fingers! Comprised of chicken slices on a crisp, cracker like flatbread that was one well cooked and marinated chicken.

Sometimes the simplicity of the dish astounds you, the simple Grilled Vegetable Skewers is a delicious dish and when served alongside a chili potato mash is a great pair what I missed here is a dip to go along with it

There’s nothing like pan-fried fish – slightly crusty outside and perfectly flaky, that is how the Seabass was, served along with a lentil risotto and beetroot foam was one dish that was made with such restraint that it seems the chef was careful not to adulterate the delicate flavor of the fish by using overwhelming seasonings.

Yes, the prices are on the higher side. But you won’t have any qualms about that once you experience this place first hand.

All in all a fabulous experience here. The question is will I go back there again. Of course I will, I am reserving this place for very special occasions and yes definitely to check out the party scenes here.
