As part of the Restaurant Week India, Pune edition, #TheBTeam was invited to cover the restaurants across Pune and I opted to sample the Indian food at Kabab Hut.

The menu of Kabab Hut is authentically North-Indian encompassing all the great and rich dishes originating from the northern region. Expect scrumptious hot curries, mouth-watering kababs, crisp naans, fragrant biryanis and royal desserts. Menu is not extensive or unnecessarily lengthy rather it is compact and full of fantastic regional dishes. During the restaurant week they are serving up a Persian, Mughlai, Lucknowi, Awadhi cuisines.

The specially curated menu at Kabab Hut for the Restaurant Week comprises of 10 appetizers [including two RW Signature Appetizers], 11 mains [including two RW Signature Mains] and 4 desserts. I chose the dishes that came well recommended by the chef there. So here is how my evening went at Kabab Hut

Appetizers

I had to choose from Peshawari Paneer Tikka, Chene se bhare Kumbh, Subz Motia Seekh, Chonk ki Tikki, Lahsooni Mahi, Murgh ke Soole, Murgh Chandi Kabab, Nazuk Gosht Ki Seekh, Sarsonwale Tandoori Phool and Dhuanar Mahi Tikka. Out of these line up I chose the Murgh Chandi Kabab and Najuk Gosht Ki Seekh.

The Murgh Chandi Kabab is mild aromatic kabab that is basically a Muslim court dish, a blend of Mughlai and Nawabi cuisine.  Perfected at the tables of the gourmet Nawabs of Lucknow this appetizer was as authentic as it could get. Laced with cream, garnished with silver leaf and served alongside lachcha onions and a wedge of lime the kababs were totally melt in the mouth #HighlyRecommended

The Najuk Gosht Ki Seekh, which was a delightful meat starter made with ground mutton, these were delicious, juicy kebabs that were chargrilled to perfection that I tucked into with utmost gusto.

The vegetarians have an excellent choice in kababs too. The quality of the kababs surely fortifies the restaurant’s moniker.

Mains

For the main course there were Makhmali Malai Paneer, Malai Khurchan, Subz Handi, Adraki Aloo Gobhi Matar, Goan Fish Curry, Makhani Chooza, Martaban Ka Gosht, Murgh Elaichi Korma, Lahsooni Palak Singhada and Murgh Ambada to choose from. I opted for the Martaban ka Gosht and Murgh Ambada

The Murgh Ambada (Chicken cooked in sorrel leaves) was absolutely delectable and will give you flashes of flavor beyond the typical north Indian flavors. I lapped it up with some lachcha parantha on the side.

The Martaban ka Gosht, was so well cooked and tender that the meat was literally falling off the bone. One could figure out that the preparation was slow cooked to perfection and the peshawari chillis gave the dish a distinct flavor and color.

Desserts

For the desserts I chose the Lychee ki Tehri, that had creamed lychees with rabdi that is an absolute #MustTry . The Angoori Rasmalai here will transport you to by-lanes of Lucknow. Trust me it is that authentic.

Overall, a brilliant dinner and at Rs. 750 per diner during the Restaurant Week its totally worth it to grab the offer.

The restaurant is located in the basement of Sun-n-Sand Hotel, Pune. This elegant little restaurant is ideal for a lavish but quiet meal in company of friends and family.
