Lunch Buffet at Incognito

Love to explore different food options with colleagues, friends or family during lunch hours? But, eating out is a bit expensive for your pocket? Fret not! Incognito presents to you the fab Friday Lunch Buffet in Pune, priced at INR 550 plus taxes. Yes, you read that right! Go ahead and don’t miss out on quality meal time with your near ones, which are easy on pocket too. The menu here is a decently curated spread.

When the #TheBTeam was invited to sample the buffet, we assumed that the buffet lunch assuming it would be perhaps a mix of varied international offerings that incognito offers on a regular day.  First look at the spread you will see that it’s a mix of Indian, Italian, oriental with a dash of Continental and Mediterranean cuisine.

Furthermore, to deviate and break away from the normal brand image of Incognito while trying  to attract walk-ins/footfalls( I guess that’s the brand thought and marketing strategy behind this concept) through a versatile menu. Yes, its a good way to attract people to walk in and enjoy a scrumptious meal in a great ambience. As you can see the choices are appealing. Now the second risk of doing something like this is to ensure that the new offers stand perfect. Here the product is the new buffet menu. The service is top class. As usual, we are helped by their staff that is always by your side making you comfortable and even chatting you with you at times. But here to excel in your new offering is the actual challenge. And they did it decently well. It was a packed house for the buffet.

Check out my take on the food served at Incognito:

Mulligatawny Soup & Breads with Herbed Butter: The name Mulligatawny means ‘pepper water’, and curry powder is the particular ingredient that gives this incredible soup such a delicious flavor. Also called the curry soup it was a comforting start to the meal along with fresh breads and herbed butter.

Hummus Lavash & Pickled Olives: The hummus was bang on flavors but the lavash was soggy as it was already dipped in the hummus and served. But that didn’t deter me from going back for second helpings as the hummus was fab.

Potato & Bean Salad: My favorite salad of the day…I don’t remember how many helpings I took of this salad. Just the right amount of dressing, well cooked beans and fresh peppers.

Asian Fried Fish with Green Aji Dip: Well seasoned crumb coated fish, I would have liked it a little more crispier. The Aji dip was perfectly paired with it.

Corn Tortilla Salad: Spicy and sweet, this unusual salad was ideal with the fish.

Murg Do Pyaza: Medium spiced, well cooked, falling off the bone Murg Do Pyaza went well with the roti and rice.

Lamb Kotbullar with Mulled Wine Sauce: The most incredible dish of the day!!! I think you will agree that there is nothing better than the smell and deliciousness of some fried Greek lamb meatballs. Juicy and well seasoned ground lamb, infused with the aromas and flavors of fresh mint, garlic and oregano paired with lightly seasoned mulled wine sauce was heartening.

Dahi ke aloo, Paneer Ambari, Dal Lasooni and Jeera Pulao were also a part of the lunch menu. But I steered clear from these dishes. (I was partial to other cuisines)

Penne with Coriander Pesto: Well cooked penne pasta in coriander pesto sauce was

Stir Fried Vegetables with Pepper Sauce: I missed the noodles with this preparation. This one didn’t work as a stand alone dish for me

The desserts Malpua with Rabdi, blueberry cheese cake and creamy walnut pie catered well for one’s sweet craving.

Overall the place has a unique ambiance and offers  a great ‘value for money’ deal. It is good for big Team Lunches as well. If you like versatility in your food, this will surely work for you
