Dinshaw's Xpress Cafe Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Say Dinshaw’s and you are reminded of all the ice-cream parlor visits with your parents. Yeah at that time ice-cream eating was a luxury!!! Little do we know that they forayed into other businesses like dairy and now with Dinshawxpress café they bring to the table  ‘The Complete Ice Cream Experience’ by offering a range Exotic Sundaes, Ice Cream Cakes, Smoothies, Waffles, Crepes, Thick Shakes, Frappes, Iced Coffees along with an Italian / Continental Food Menu- Pizzas, Pastas, Salads, Sandwiches  and a glimpse of the Parsi menu.  Their Koregaon Park outlet in Pune is a charming little place. The prices don’t make you feel like your savings were wiped out due to an unforeseen recession. Read on to know more my experience here.

It doesn’t get much better then a warm slice of cheesy garlic bread straight from the oven.. The Cheesy Garlic Bread [Rs. 129] here had a generous coating of the butter and finely chopped garlic. It hit the right notes flavor wise but I was surprised that they used a sandwich loaf to smear the buttery goodness on. Homestyle is the key word here…

Parsi chicken farcha is a popular Parsi dish often served as a starter or appetizer at festivities of all kinds- from weddings to birthdays to family dinners. It resembles the Indian version of American Southern fried chicken. The Chicken Farcha [Rs. 199] at Dinshaw’s even though its deep fried is not very oily simply because the chicken the first steamed and then batter fried. What I missed here is are the undertones of spices that are associated with this dish

The Chicken Dhansak with rice [Rs. 249], a Parsi classic was bursting with flavors  combination of the chicken, the earthy lentils and the rich spicy sauce made it one of the best dishes of the day. Served alongside steamed rice topped with caramelized onions…well that’s what soul food is all about

Coming to my favorite dish of the day -The Mutton Kheema Ghotala [Rs. 249]  served with fresh pav topped with an egg sunny side up was a again a great example of comfort food at its best. Kheema Ghotala is made by scrambling curried Keema with eggs and onions. The breakfast, this superb spiced meat dish can be a classic lunch menu as well.

In desserts, we tried a couple of their shakes – The Chocolate Toffee Turtle [Rs. 210] – A combo of chocolate and caramel  with nuts, cookies, vanilla ice cream and molten brownie ice cream wowed all the chocolate lovers alike

Boston Brownie Freak Shake [Rs. 245] was full of gooey chocolate shake and topped with a brownie and ice cream and garnished with gems was one monster that we struggled to finish, the sugar rush after that however took a while to go away.

Next up were the Jenga Churros [Rs. 210] that had churros stacked jenga style. The wiff of cinnamon, the sweetness of chocolate drizzle, loaded with gems and an ubiquitous vanilla ice-cream, this dessert is totally worth a try if you are up for an edible game of jenga

Though the dishes presented here were only a small part of their menu I would love to go back and try the others. Service here needs to be improvised a bit. All in all a decently priced place for the youngsters to go and have a great time

Cheers!!!
