Soothing Saturdays – Lemons

Lemon

I am usually yellow, sometimes green
Zingy, zesty, tart and tangy,
Squeeze me, slice me, sip me
And keep asking for more

A dash of lemon brightens both sweet treats and savory dishes. Lemons (nimbu) play an important role in baked goods, transforming cakes and tarts and adding zing to biscuits and curds. Lemon cupcakes can make your day and a lemon pickle with piping hot paranthas make a whole meal. Lemons have natural
antibacterial, antiviral, and immune-boosting powers they contain many substances–notably citric acid, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, bioflavonoids, pectin, and limonene–that promote immunity and fight infection.
Use them as a juice, zest or garnish…they sure are multifaceted.
