Ayurvedic Tuesdays – Carom Seeds

Carom seeds

I am known to dominate
The flavor of any dish.
Dry-roast me or fry me
Any other flavor can you pitch?

Flatulence problem? Chew on some carom seeds. Commonly known as ajwain, the oval seeds impart a sharp and penetrating taste. A little ajwain goes a long way specially in Indian cooking for its assertive and distinct taste. It enhances the taste of puris, paranthas and pakodas. Due to its preservative qualities it finds its way into many pickles and is an amazing tempering spice.
The health benefits are a cure for diarrhea, cold symptoms and rheumatic pain.
