Veggie Thursdays – Brocolli

BrocolliFlorets like a Cauliflower

I am a salad queen

From the same family as brussel sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower, this cruciferous vegetable is one of the best health boosting foods around. It delivers a healthy dose of sulforaphane, a compound thought to thwart cancer by helping to stimulate the body’s detoxifying enzymes.
Broccoli florets can be blanched, grated, chopped or sliced and used in recipes. It is used in many cuisines as an accompaniment to main courses like braised or grilled meats. Broccoli goes well with other ingredients like baby corn, mushrooms and tofu. And you can use this combination in stir fries, in pasta, pizzas, soups, salads, and casseroles.
